Turkey Residence Permit Application 
Summary Information about the Residence Permit Application in Turkey
Residence Permit is usually given to people who would like to stay in Turkey over 90 days. This means If you have a valid visa you can stay in Turkey up to 90 days without Residence Permit. Also keep in mind that you need a different visa types and Residence permit if you are going to work or study in Turkey.
You can either apply to short term Residence Permit in Turkey or Long Term Residence Permit.
Short Term Residence Permit Application:
If you are here for a Tourism purpose you can apply to short term residence permit. If you are buying house in Turkey or Here for treatments in Hospital or here for Business purposes, or here for research or any other issues or already graduated from Turkish University, either 2 years university degree, 4 years bachelor degree, 2 years Master Degree and Doctorate Degrees you can also apply for Short Term Residence Permit. Short term residence permit given for a one year at first then can be extended.
Required Documents for Turkey Short Term Residence Permit Applications:
- 4 current photo
- Original Passport and Photocopy of it. (Last Entrance Page and Passport Expiry date shown page)
- Appointment Form
- General Health Insurance document
- If you are staying in Hotel – Reservation Document – signed and stamp
- If you are staying in a Rental House – Notary signed Rental Agreement
- If you are staying with Turkish Citizen – Turkish Citizen’s Notary Signed Written Engagement.
- Bank Account Document – it should have a balance at least 6.000 USD, 500 USD for each month expenses.
Long Term Residence Permit Application:
If you are staying in Turkey over 8 years you can apply long term residence permit. (Calculation of this duration is as follows; half of study permit stay and full of other stays)
Requirements of Long Term Residence Permit Application
- Continuous 8 year residence in Turkey
- Not receiving social assistance in the last three years
- To have a sufficient and regular income source for himself or his family, if any
- To have a valid health insurance
- No threat to public order or public security
Documents to be available during the appointment – For Long Term Residence Permit
- 4 photos (Normal size)
- Original passport and photocopy of the passport (last entry page, page with validity and contact information)
- Appointment Form
- Document shows that eight years of continuous residence in Turkey
Short useful notes for Turkish Residence Permit Applications
- If you have a work permit in Turkey it’s also consider as a Residence Permit.
- In order for you apply Residence Permit in Turkey you need have a General health Insurance. One year Health Insurance Prices changes from company to company and approximately between 290 TL to 1200 TL. (Depends on age and other factors). Health Insurance is obligatory for under 65 years of age applicants.
- If you have a Long Term Residence Permit in Turkey and you stayed more than 1 year in abroad your residence permit will be cancelled. But you can apply to get it again and first application always easier. You can apply either from directly in Turkey or any Consulate General of Turkey in the country where you currently staying.
